There were a few looks from the latest Pre Fall 2013 collections that caught my eye because they embodied an accessible modernity that has been largely absent these past three seasons.
Jason Wu took my breath away with this stunning black embroidered halter evening gown with its tantalizing sheer skirt and statement gold belt; this dress exudes that 1970's Halston ease and sex appeal, yet is styled perfectly for today's woman with minimal makeup, a bold red lip, a side pony and no jewelry.
Electric blue is the quintessential color of today's minimalist movement and contrasting it with a silver gray shade like St.John has done here with this perfectly cut peplum sheath is brilliant. I love the definition the contrast pipping detail work adds to the dress.
There's something so cutting edge about pairing lip stick and scarlet reds against stark black and white canvases the way Burberry Prorsum has done here; the patterns formed really emphasize the silhouettes of these looks and draw attention to the fine tailoring.
Belstaff brought a smile to my face with this beautifully proportioned A-line coat with the right touch of embellishment along the sleeves, notch lapels, pocket and button detail work. The silk top underneath with its sweet knot detail adds a nice touch of sophistication to the overall look.
